Epson Stylus NX400 review - Dev Hardware

Epson-Stylus-NX400-DevHardware.jpg

Dev Hardware have published a review of the Epson Stylus NX400 All-in-One Printer. 'The NX400 is smartly designed for ease of use and is relatively compact compared to other AIO printers. The printer's control panel is conveniently located on the left, top of the unit for easy access. You can control every function of the printer via its control panel. There are dedicated buttons for copying, memory card printing, photo printing, and cropping, as well as an on-screen menu system that offers a host of other options. The control panel buttons are very tactile and easy to read – great for beginners – and the large “Start” button is easy to find and controls copies, scans, and some printing functions.'

Review: Canon Pixma MP620 All-In-One Photo Printer - PC Mag

Canon-PIXMA-MP620-Multifunction-Printer.jpg

PC Magazine have published a review of the Canon PIXMA MP620 Multifunction Printer. 'The MP620's photocentric features include the ability to print from PictBridge cameras and memory cards, as well as a 2.5-inch color LCD that lets you preview photos before printing. It also offers a 300-sheet input capacity divided into two trays, giving you the flexibility to load two kinds of paper at once and switch between them as needed. In addition to printing, it can also scan over a network and work as a standalone copier. I tested the printer under both Windows XP and Vista, but according to Canon, it also ships with drivers and a full set of software for Windows 2000 and Mac OS 10.3.9 to 10.5.x.'

Epson Stylus SX100 Review - Trusted Reviews

Epson-Stylus-SX100.jpg

Trusted Reviews have published a review of the Epson Stylus SX100 All-In-One multifunction printer. 'This is a small all-in-one, following a very conventional design. Paper feeds from a fold-up paper tray at the rear, through to a fold-down paper tray at the front. A Contact Image Sensor (CIS) scanner handles documents up to A4 and there's a simple but adequate control panel down the left-hand side. This includes separate buttons for black and colour text copies and one for a colour photo copy. There are no facilities for connecting a PictBridge camera and the only connection is a USB 2.0 socket at the rear, but at least you don't have a power adapter block kicking around under your desk, as Epson has always built its power units inside its printers.'

Brother MFC-5890CN Review - PC Advisor

Brother-MFC-5890CN.jpg

PC Advisor have published a review of the Brother MFC-5890CN colour inkjet multifunction printer. 'We like the Brother MFC-5890CN's control panel. The buttons are clearly marked and logically arranged, and the 3.3in colour LCD makes navigating options easy. Our only quibbles: the menus don't rotate, and the difference between the 'Clear/Back' and 'Stop/Exit' button can be confusing. The paper trays have generous capacity. With the Brother MFC-5890CN you get a 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) as well as a 150-sheet, A3/ledger input tray - an unusual find at this price. The tray's top lid can catch up to 50 sheets of output.'

Review: Polaroid PoGo Instant Mobile Printer - Trusted Reviews

Polaroid-PoGo-Instant-Mobile-Printer.jpg

Trusted Reviews have published a review of the Polaroid PoGo Instant Mobile Printer. 'Under test, the good news is we've found a printer that lives up to its claimed print speed. Polaroid says it takes ‘about a minute' to produce a print, and we measured it at ‘about a minute' printing from Bluetooth and via a PictBridge cable from a digital camera. This seems like a good speed, considerably faster than standalone inkjet or dye-sublimation printers, until you remember that the print size is only a quarter of the standard from these other printers. Linking the PoGo to a Bluetooth phone is very straightforward and once we got the phone to do a Bluetooth search, it spotted the Polaroid printer and linked to it without problem. It only takes around four seconds longer to print via Bluetooth than to print over PictBridge.

Samsung CLP-315W Review - CNET

Samsung-CLP-315W.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Samsung CLP-315W wireless laser printer. 'The top of the Samsung printer is just as simple as the chassis, with a single power button and several LED lights to indicate a wireless connection and notify you about paper jams and toner shortages. The control panel annoyingly lacks a dedicated cancel button, so if you want to stop a job in mid-queue, you have to do it manually through the operating system. The top of the unit also has a foldout arm to catch paper on its way out of the feeder. A removable paper tray lives on the bottom of the CLP-315W and can hold the standard 150 sheets of paper in a variety of sizes up to 8.5 inches by 14 inches. Unfortunately, there's no manual feed slot that you commonly see in single function laser printers, but you can use the main input tray for different kinds of irregular media including envelopes, card stock, and transparency papers.'

MS, XD, SD and CF cards are supported and you can print images ranging in size from 4x6in up to A4. PlanOn Printstik Review - Tablet PC Review

PlanOn-Printstik.jpg

Tablet PC Review have published a review of the portable PlanOn Printstik printer. 'The Printstik printer is definitely not your average printer. Weighing in at less than 2 lbs. and small enough to fit in your average notebook case, it's one of a kind, at least for now. It seems solidly built, although I wouldn't go dropping it on a hardwood floor, and is two-toned, silver and black being the color choices. The dimensions I gave earlier are when the Printstik is lying flat and that's the position I will describe from. The front of the Printstik has the PRINTSTIK label and the PlanOn logo. There is a power button and a paper feed button in the top right-hand corner. Next to the power and paper feed buttons, are the data stream, printing status and battery life indicators.'

Brother MFC-7840W - IT Reviews

Brother-MFC-7840W.jpg

A review of the Brother MFC-7840W All-in-One wireless device has been posted over at IT Reviews. 'The MFC-7840W is at the top end of this series of five models, which start at £102.12 (plus VAT). Aimed principally at the small business end of the market, this is a sturdy, solidly square machine - 428 (W) x 396 (D) x 304 (H) mm - that weighs 11.2kg. Yet it's far from ugly, designed with sleek, ergonomic curves and in shades of gun-metal grey and silver. This is a four-function All-in-One combining fax, scan, copy and print. On the top is the 50-sheet ADF and at the bottom is the front-loading, 250-sheet input tray. Unfortunately there's no automatic duplex facility, so double-sided printing will have to be dealt with manually. The supplied toner cartridge has to be slipped into its housing at the front and, apart from attaching the usual cables, that's most of the physical work out the way.'

Epson Stylus SX400 Review - Pocket-Lint

Epson-Stylus-SX400.jpg

A review of the Epson Stylus SX400 all-in-one printer has been posted over at Pocket-Lint. 'The new Epson Stylus SX400 (and apart from the LCD screen, the otherwise identical SX200 variant) is a stylish and relatively compact all-in-one inkjet printer, scanner and copier. The "cost effective" tag from Epson suits too as the SX200 costs £79.99 while the SX400 tested here retails at £119.99, so both are indeed cost effective given the triumvirate of features on offer. However, I’m not sure the 2.5-inch colour screen is worth the extra (almost) £30. Despite that, the machine is easy to set-up, slipping free of its polystyrene protection and packaging quickly.'

Canon PIXMA MX850 Review – IT Reviews

Canon-Pixma-MX850.jpg

IT Reviews have published a review of the Canon Pixma MX850 Office All-in-One Inkjet Printer. ‘The machine itself follows Canon's usual sleek lines, styled in black and silver and with a comprehensive control panel running nearly the full width of its front. Controls include quick-dial buttons for the built-in fax facility, a number pad for phone dialling, a 62mm LCD display for previewing photos and an easy-to-use navigation ring, though without the supremely ergonomic click-dial of the high-end PIXMA MP machines. As well as printing, scanning and copying, the MX850 can handle most memory card formats for direct photo printing and has a PictBridge socket if you prefer to connect your camera with a cable. There's also a facility for direct printing of CDs and DVDs, using a separate holder which slots in once you've pulled down a flap inside the all-in-one.’

Xerox Phaser 6130/N Review - PC Mag

Xerox-Phaser-6130-N-Review.jpg

PC Magazine have published a review of the Xerox Phaser 6130/N laser printer. ‘At just 38 pounds and 15.3 by 15.8 by 15.5 inches (HWD), the 6130/N is unusually small and lightweight for a color laser. But although that makes finding room for it somewhat easier, this printer is still a little too imposing for me to want it sitting on my desk. Physical setup is generally typical for a low-end color laser. You remove the packing materials, load paper, plug in the cable and power cord, and install the software. Removing the packing materials, however, takes a bit more work than with most lasers. Unlike with most, you have to open the front cover, so that it lies flat, remove a relatively heavy imaging unit, pull eight restraining ribbons, and reinsert the unit.’

Canon PIXMA MP970 All-in-One Review - Trusted Reviews

Canon-PIXMA-MP970-All-in-One.jpg

Trusted Reviews have published a review of the Canon PIXMA MP970 All-in-One machine. 'At first glance the MP970 appears to have no control panel, but it's actually set into the lid of the scanner. A panel flips up to reveal an 88mm LCD display, 20mm bigger across the diagonal than the MP610's. We're not convinced about the positioning of the controls, because if you lift the scanner lid with the control panel open it can be cumbersome. The lid of the scanner has a removable underside, which reveals an illuminated strip for scanning transparencies. There's a transparency and film holder in there, too, which you can lay on the flatbed to help with these high resolution scans. This is something the MP610 doesn't have, though the maximum scan resolution is the same on both machines.'

Lexmark - X500n Review - IT Reviews

Lexmark-X500n.jpg

IT Reviews have published a review of the Lexmark X500n color laser all-in-one MFP. 'Print quality from the machine depends on what you're printing. Black text prints well; clean and without noticeable toner spatter. Colour graphics are also dense and well defined, though there's slight mis-registration when printing text over colour. Colour photocopies lose quite a bit of the colour of original prints and areas of solid colour can look patchy The consumables regime is none too straightforward. There are four separate toner cartridges, which slide in one above the other from the front, a waste toner bottle which slots in to the right of the toners and a developer unit, which drops into the machine from the top of the printer section, once you've hinged the scanner out of the way.'

Epson Stylus Photo R1900 Review - CNET

Epson-Stylus-Photo-R1900.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Epson Stylus Photo R1900 printer. 'The printer's design looks a lot like the Stylus Pro 3800. Though both use pigment inks, the pricier 3800 uses Epson's K3 inkset and doesn't support roll-feed media. It does have larger ink cartridges than the R1900, which should give you many more prints between cartridges and a slightly better dollar-to-ink-milliliter value, but the Pro 3800 doesn't include the new orange ink found in the R1900. Of course, the Pro 3800 is really designed for people who print a whole lot, plus it costs more than twice as much as the R1900.

Review: HP Photosmart C8180 All-in-One Printer - Pocket-Lint

HP-Photosmart-C8180.jpg

Pocket-Lint have published a review of the HP Photosmart C8180 All-in-One Printer which allows you to print or copy sharp text and graphics at speeds up to 34 ppm and a resolution of up to 1200 dpi. 'The HP C8180 sits at the top of the HP product tree and for the money gives you a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, transparency scanner, lightscribe burner, 6 colour scanning, 9600 x 9600dpi resolution, built-in Bluetooth, memory card reader, wireless and Ethernet connectivity, and built-in Red-eye removal as well. The design is fairly minimalist with a glossy white and grey colour scheme and everything is managed from a simple console featuring five buttons and a touch screen display. The screen itself is large, certainly large enough to see what you are doing and the difference over the C6280 and C7280 is noticeable. Because of this size, as we've said buttons are kept to a minimal with dedicated buttons for Red Eye Removal, Print Photos, copy keys for scanning and an all important cancel key.'

Review: Lexmark X4850 Wireless All-in-One - Personal Computer World

Lexmark-X4850.jpg

Personal Computer World have published a review of the Lexmark X4850 Wireless All-in-One multifunction device. 'The X4850 is a higher-spec version of the X4550, which was released recently. Both printers have the same resolution - 1,200x1,200dpi for black and white printing, 4,800x1,200dpi for colour - along with the same built-in 1,200x600dpi scanner. However, the X4850 is significantly faster, with Lexmark quoting the X4850 at 30 pages per minute (ppm) for black and white and 27ppm for colour, compared to 26ppm and 18ppm for the X4550. It also includes additional features such as double-sided printing and, of course, it has the wireless networking option that allows you to share its printing and scanning features with other users on a wireless network.'

HP Photosmart A626 Compact Photo Printer Review - PC Mag

HP-Photosmart-A626.jpg

PC Magazine have published a review of the HP Photosmart A626 Compact Photo Printer which facilitates photo printing without a PC. 'The A626 actually offers the same touch-screen features as the HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Center, a larger printer with a much larger touch screen. But unlike the A826, which is too large to carry with you (at least on a regular basis), the A626 is fully portable. It's 5.2 by 9.9 by 4.6 inches (HWD), weighs only 3.2 pounds, and comes with a built-in handle. HP even offers an optional battery ($49.99 direct) so you can print photos when away from a power outlet. HP says the battery weighs roughly 8 ounces and can print 75 4-by-6 photos on a full charge. As with most small-format photo printers, setting up the A626 is almost trivial. Simply plug in the power cord, install the one ink cartridge, load paper, and print. If you want to connect to a computer, you can also run the automated installation program and plug in a USB cable.'

Agfaphoto Printer AP2700 Photo Printer Review at Computeractive

A review of the Agfaphoto AP2700 photo printer has been posted over at Computeractive. ‘It's a small machine, about the size of a bag of sugar, but with a 25-sheet paper tray that plugs in at the front. It has a 63mm LCD display, so you can preview the images that are to be printed, and a menu system controlled by a circle of buttons. Like printers from the company's earlier Printeasy range, the Photo Printer AP2700 is a dye-sublimation device, which means the solid, waxy ink is transferred from a very thin film ribbon to the postcard-sized print sheets using a thermal print head.’

Samsung-CLX-2160N.jpg

Trusted Reviews have published a review of the Samsung CLX-2160N which is described as the “world's smallest colour laser multifunctional printer”. ‘Styled like a typical office photocopier, but not much larger than the A4 paper it uses, the CLX-2160N is a very neatly designed piece of equipment. Its front edge is rounded off and then sliced through to form a flat control panel, which incorporates a two-line, 16-character LCD display and a series of 11 buttons, including large ones to start and stop print jobs. There are three extra buttons in this set, not normally seen on an all-in-one. Two of them work with the USB socket in the front panel to scan to a file on a memory drive and to print a file from one. The third button, called ID Copy, takes an identity tag, business card or other small document and asks you to place it first one way up and then the other, before printing both images on a single sheet of paper.

Standard-sounding performance, but Canon says the iP90v is the only portable printer capable of producing borderless A4 photo prints. And with USB, IrDA and optional Bluetooth connectivity, it’s a gregarious device. The no-frills base model starts at a reasonable $150, and print costs are low, too. Many of the inkjets we've examined in at this price are multifunctional and print a bit slower than the K5400, but they do more overall, which makes if difficult to compare this printer to others in its class.
