Hand And Arm Care Via The Powerball Massage

Pro-Metal Powerball.jpg

The Powerball is supposed to aid relief with pains in the hand and arm resulting from carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis and other arthritic type ailments. Shiny Shiny writes; 'So apparently what you do is, you insert this ripcord into the orb, pull it out, and turn your wrist to derive the benefit of the gyroscopic forces that are unleashed. At top speed, it goes at up to 20,000 rpm, during which over 40lbs of pressure are being exerted from your hand up to your shoulder.'

Movado Unveils Series 800 Chronometer

Movado Series 800.jpg

Wrist Watch Review.com reports on the launch of the exceptional Movado Series 800 "timepiece". 'A Movado sport watch? With a wavy fact and big arrow hour hand? Perhaps someone is seeing their market share drop? I don’t like Movado much - so much depends on that single big dot that you almost lose the watch - but this sports model, apparently a quartz piece, has some chops. It comes on a rubber or steel band and costs about $1,000.'

Digital Lifestyles.info: Informatica Wi-Fi Detector Pen with LED Beam

WiFi Pen with Led Beam.jpg

Mike Slocombe writing over at Digital Lifestyles cautions that the Informatica Wi-Fi Detector Pen is " only available in limited quantities for a limited time only". 'Touted as a 'business essential' by gadgety folks Informatica, the thing looks simple enough to operate: simply push on the button on the barrel and a green, yellow or red LED will light up to tell you the strength of any Wi-Fi signal in range, with the makers claiming that the pen can detect signals within an area of 50 feet. All this could be yours for just $18.95, with the pen also coming with a white LED flashlight so you can, err, point your light at any hotspots you find.

ThinkGeek.com: Micro R/C Helicopter

ThinkGeek's Micro RC Helicopter.jpg

The Micro R/C Helicopter available from Think Geek for $39.99 has been sold out. A note on the company's website informs potential buyers to check back in August when a fresh stock of the mini copters should be ready to fly. 'ThinkGeek's Micro R/C Helicopter is fully assembled and ready to fly in less than 5 minutes. Piloting this mini copter is a snap and it can survive virtually any type of crash unscathed. With full flight control in any direction you can make the helicopter take off from your desk then land on your hand. It can hover in place almost motionless like some futuristic robotic insect. We had 3-year old children fly this helicopter without damaging it. It is like some kind of R/C space time continuum paradox.

Oral's USB Electric BlueToothbrush

Oral's USB Electric BlueToothbrush.jpg

I have to admit I am not that enthused with the idea of inserting an electric toothbrush in my mouth but there is definitely folks out there who find them rather handy in the bathroom. I have therefore read with some amusement the report of Tim over at 4bitterguys.com of his experience with Oral B's Bluetoothbrush and USB adaptor. 'I'm only slightly disappointed that the toothbrush doesn't actually transmit any completely useless data about itself - maybe how many oscillations the head is making would've fit the bill - but I'm guessing that without a toothbrush profile implemented by the Bluetooth stack, it would've been slightly difficult hacking it up. My disappointment is of course offset by how cool a toothbrush with a USB plug sticking out of the bottom of it looks.'

CNET: Garmin Quest 2 GPS Navigator Review

Garmin Quest 2 GPS Navigator.jpg

The Garmin Quest 2 GPS Navigator comes pre-loaded with City Select North America NT, which features full coverage of the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico—including nearly six million points of interest like gas stations, ATMs, hotels, restaurants, and attractions. ' A number of portable navigation systems, such as the Magellan RoadMate 800, claim they can be used in the car and on foot, but while they may be compact enough, their odd shapes don't make them ideal walking buddies. The Garmin Quest 2, however, is a different story. Its PDA-like form factor makes it a perfect travel companion, whether you're behind the wheel or hoofing it. Maps are now preloaded on the device, one of several nice upgrades over its predecessor. Of course, there are some trade-offs for its diminutive size. The display is rather small and isn't a touch screen. Voice-guided directions are only available when the unit is used with the included vehicle mount. And, it's a bit pricey at $750. Still, thanks to its portability and accurate directions, the Garmin Quest 2 is a solid choice if you're looking for a versatile GPS device.'

Popular Mechanics.com: Adidas And Polar Offer Runners A "Tech" Advantage

Adidas-Polar system.jpg

Popular Mechanics previews the Adidas-Polar tech gadgets aimed at improving the jogging experience which will be available in the latter quarter of the year. 'Until now. Shoemaker Adidas and sports electronics pioneer Polar have created the first system that turns two of the most basic pieces of running gear—shoes and a shirt—into sensors. The shoes record your speed, distance and cadence, and a heart rate monitor gathers data from sensors embedded in the shirt, no wires required. A wristwatch-based computer sucks in the data, and displays real-time info such as distance traveled to help you pace yourself. Useful, if, say, you’re training for a marathon. But what’s the point for the average jogger? In a word, cadence.'

Popular Mechanics: Norelco Bodygroom Electric Razor Review

Norelco Bodygroom electric razor.jpg

Erik Sofge writing over at Popular Mechanics shares his satisfactory experience after use of the $40 Norelco Bodygroom electric razor. 'The Bodygroom electric razor is already the butt (puns are inevitable when talking about this device) of potty-mouth jokes from all manner of Web and print journalists. And yet, it's a good idea: a razor designed for all points south of the neck, including—cue the adolescent giggles—there. To a certain extent the Bodygroom is simply a shaver that doesn't cut very close, greatly reducing the chance of nicking sensitive areas or otherwise things that you seriously do not want to irritate.'

Desktop Personal Air Conditioner

Desktop Personal Air Conditioner.jpg

When you need to cool off you can open a window, turn on a fan (which I detest), or, you can operate your own personal Desktop Air Conditioner which is available from Overstock for twenty bucks. To be honest I don't think you should expect very much from an air-conditioning device this size and price but you have got to praise the innovation at least and hope you get a reasonable "cooling period" from this gadget. 'Staying cool and comfortable has never been easier, thanks to this desktop air conditioner!Designed for ease of use, this little air conditioner utilizes frozen water to create a personal climate-control system anyone can use. Fill the supplied bottle with water, freeze it, place it back inside the chamber and turn the power switch on and enjoy. '

Jabra Communications SP500 Bluetooth Portable Speakerphone

Jabra SP500 Bluetooth speakerphone.jpg

CNET reviews the Jabra SP500 Bluetooth speakerphone and while there are some 'cons' in the assessment, the device duly performs the task for which it is intended. 'Like the Bluant Supertooth II, the Jabra SP500 qualifies as a wireless speakerphone, in that it isn't a true hands-free device unless paired to a phone that has built-in voice-command operation. Though it's relatively bulky, the unit is modern and stylish without a single straight line to be found. The SP500 offers a good amount of talk and standby time, which means that forgetting to turn it off shouldn't be a problem. Also in its favor: when the rechargeable batteries eventually wear out, you can replace them with off-the-shelf AA nickel-metal-hydride cells.'

TravelSmith.com: Men's Packable Classic Raincoat

Men's Packable Classic Raincoat.jpg

Is your raincoat waterproof? Strange question isnt it? Well the truth be told most of the ordinary throw-away rain covers are more of a nuisance anytime time the raindrops come pounding down. When they are not filtering the water to your clothing underneath they are ensuring you become soaked as a result of the rise in temperature due to the non-breatheable fabric from which they are constructed.TravelSmith seeks to addres these two concerns with the $170 Men's Packable Classic Raincoat. 'Made of suede-soft microfiber, and a high tech membrane that's totally waterproof yet breathable - like Gore-Tex® - but at a fraction of the cost. Sealed seams throughout ensure water-tightness. Best of all, each folds into a compact travel pouch that slips easily into any carry-on. All styles are as impervious to fashion trends as they are to rain and wind. Generous fit. Machine wash on gentle cycle.'

BlackBerry 8700g Wireless Handheld™

RIM BlackBerry 8700g.jpg

With the courtroom battles of the recent past firmly out of the way, Research in Motion [RIM], makers of the much adored Blackberry handhelds, along with T-Mobile, has sought to solidify its hold on this segment of the market with the addition of Intel processors and other features to a new set of devices. 'Unlike the RIM BlackBerry 7290 it replaces, the RIM BlackBerry 8700g offers a sleeker and more compact package at 4.3 by 2.7 by 0.7 inches and 4.7 ounces. Sure, it doesn't have the cell phone form factor of the BlackBerry 7100 series, and if you're new to BlackBerrys, the device's squarish shape will take acclimation, but in return, you get a full QWERTY keyboard and a spacious 2.5-inch-diagonal QVGA display. Jenna on Popgadget ignores the obvious prejudice for Canon Powershot digital cameras and posts an admirable view of the features of the Nikon Coolpix S5/ S6. 'I've been pretty loyal to the Canon Powershot digital cameras ever since I bought my first digital camera all those years ago. I've never been tempted by other cameras just because the Canon is so familiar to me and I hate reading manuals, but I'm loving the design of the new Nikon Coolpix S5 and S6 models. CNET Review Kodak EasyShare One Megapixel Digital Camera [WI - FI enabled]

Kodak.jpg

This CNET review of the Kodak EasyShare One camera reveals some criticism of the camera's capability in shooting photos. 'Although it took nine months from announcement to shipment, the Kodak EasyShare One arrived with its promised three-inch touch-screen LCD and Wi-Fi transfer capabilities. With them, the camera opens up genuinely original possibilities for travelers, business people, and government agencies that need instant photo sharing. But all is not perfect in Kodak's wireless utopia. While the EasyShare One is great for sharing photos, it's not so great at shooting them. The user interface, optimized for maximum simplicity, can be slow and annoying for anyone unwilling to settle for complete automation.'

Simple 5 Megapixel Digital Camera: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T5

DSC-T5.jpg

Trusted Reviews writer, Cliff Smith, takes a look at the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T5 and concludes with a favorable comment on this relatively easy to operate digital camera.'The DSC-T5 is the latest in Sony’s line of ultra-slim snapshot cameras, and has a broadly similar specification to the other cameras in the T series, such as the T7, T33, T3 and others, since all of them have a 5MP sensor and 3x optical zoom lens. It is certainly an attractively designed camera, and at just 20.3mm thick and 139g including battery and card it is one of the skinniest and lightest cameras on the market. It can slip into a shirt pocket with barely a bulge, making it ideal for social occasions. Priced at around £210 online, or £279.99 in the High Street, it is competing with the likes of the Pentax Optio S5n, the Canon IXUS 55 and the Olympus FE-5500.'
