Review: Remington Titanium 360 R5130 Electric Shaver - Pocket-Lint

Remington-Titanium-360-R5130.jpg

Pocket-Lint have published a review of the rechargeable Remington Titanium 360 R5130 electric shaver. 'The R5130 Titanium 360 rotary shaver is the "budget" model of the company's new range, fitting in under the R6130 and R7130. It delivers 30-minutes shave time from a 90-minute charge as well as offering a 5-minute quick charge option for grooming on the go. The design is simple, straightforward and unlikely to win any awards - you can tell this is the entry-level of the three models available. Instead of an LCD screen as found in the R7130 and R6130 you get a six-LED "Fuel Gauge" which will keep you in the know when the power gets low and this is great for a quick glance but nothing more.'

Review: SCOTTEVEST Microfleece Pullover - MobileTechReview

SCOTTEVEST-Microfleece-Pullover.jpg

A review of the SCOTTEVEST Microfleece Pullover has been posted over at MobileTechReview.com. 'SCOTTEVEST Microfleece is a lightweight, soft fleece that's comfortable to wear. It has a clean design that looks sharp yet subtle. The fabric is super soft and a thicker, soft isolation layer lines the inside of the pullover. You only see two front pockets with zipper closures on the Microfleece and there is a sturdy neck zipper that has very smooth action. In the back of the fleece, you will find ventilation eyelets that are common in windbreakers and fleece which will keep you dry and cool. We are glad to see that the sleeves on the Microfleece are long enough to fit people with long arms. The only thing that we find a bit annoying is the fabric of the fleece is super staticky. It attracts any featherweight objects and gives out light jolts when you touch other people.'

Review: Oakley Split Thump Sunglasses - IT Reviews

Oakley-Split-Thump-Sunglasses.jpg

IT Reviews have publsihed a review of the Oakley Split Thump sunglasses/MP3 player. 'Technology and eyewear have not made good bedfellows in the past; in fact they're almost guaranteed to produce reasonably functional but ultimately unattractive products that you wouldn't be seen dead wearing outside the home. Oakley would be a good bet for a brand that can make the combination work, and its new Split Thump glasses combine an MP3 player with a typically styled set of wraparound shades. Usually the headphones are wired into the arms of these sorts of devices, dangling around when not in use and slipping rather awkwardly into the ear when listening to tunes.'

Sleeptracker Pro Review - TechnologyReview

Sleeptracker-Pro.jpg

A review of the Sleeptracker Pro wrist watch has been posted over at TechnologyReview. 'The watch -- which rises 3/4 of an inch off the wrist -- is gigantic largely because it has an accelerometer inside to detect when it's moving. The principle is that this happens when the wearer is in the lightest phase in the sleep cycle, nearly awake. So if you need to start your day by 7 a.m., you set the watch's alarm for that time -- but you also select whether you'd be willing to wake up anywhere from 10 to 90 minutes earlier if the watch detects a better moment. The thinking is that it's better to have the watch vibrate or chirp at 6:48 if it senses you're in a near-waking light sleep -- from which you could spring out of bed belting show tunes -- than to drone on until 7 and risk falling into a deeper sleep from which you'd stir groggily.'

Lectra Sox Battery Heated Socks Review - WebBikeWorld

Lectra-Sox-Battery-Heated-Socks.jpg

WebBikeWorld have published a review of a pair of Lectra Sox Battery Heated Socks 'These battery heated socks have no controller; the instructions recommend removing the battery to control the heat: "Maximum benefit will be obtained by turning the socks on and off often." Turning them on or off means removing the battery, because there is no switch or controller. When installed, the battery feels slightly insecure, because the battery doesn't really snap into a holder, but that's the way it's designed, and I checked several times to make sure the contacts were touching and they were. Also, remember that the big "D" cell sticks out about 40 mm or so, which means that the socks and battery may not fit under a tight pair of pants.'

Apple iPhone Bluetooth Headset Review - The Gadgeteer

Apple-iPhone-Bluetooth-Headset-Review.jpg

The Gadgeteer have published a review of Apple's Bluetooth Headset which extends wireless capability to users of bluetooth enabled cellphones. 'Apple's Bluetooth Headset easily paired with all the bluetooth enabled cellphones I have tried it on; Motorola Razr, Treo 680, and Blackberry 8800. The headset has a single function button that controls pairing, connect/disconnect of phone calls, and on/off of the headset itself. The sound quality is the best of any device I have ever used. Its in-the-ear design does a great job of blocking out ambient noise, making the calls much easier to hear. As the pictures show, the device is small, black, made of aluminum, and definitely precision engineered. The headset does not have built-in volume control, you control its volume via the cellphone, Blackberry, or smartphone.'

Review: Merrell Chameleon Wrap Ventilator Walking Shoe – Pocket-Lint

Merrell-Chameleon-Wrap-Ventilator-Athletic-Shoe.jpg

A review of the Merrell Chameleon Wrap Ventilator walking shoe has been posted over at Pocket-Lint. ‘A cross between a trail runner and a multi-sport shoe, the Merrell Chameleon Wrap Ventilator is a lightweight shoe that comes in a variety of colours to suit your walking attire. The core construction of the design is a Pigskin leather upper over a breathable mesh lining. Coasted with GoreTex it means that your feet stay dry without getting too hot as water doesn't penetrate the outer skin. The sole is Merrell's now standard Vibram Chameleon Sport Sole and this provides good grip on most terrain, but not so great in the city.’

SLEEPTRACKER Pro Watch Review - Digital Reviews Network

SLEEPTRACKER-Pro-Watch.jpg

A review of the SLEEPTRACKER Pro Watch has been posted over at Digital Reviews Network. 'The SLEEPTRACKER Pro package contains a standard size CDROM, an odd looking USB cable, a small printed manual and of course, the SLEEPTRACKER Pro watch itself. Upon taking the watch out of its packaging, it is immediately apparent that this thing was meant to be worn. And I don't mean to bed. Its black and gunmetal is neatly complemented by a striking orange that gives the SLEEPTRACKER Pro a trendy diver's watch feel. I haven't worn a watch since the dawn of the mobile phone, so it is no surprise that the SLEEPTRACKER Pro felt a little alien on my wrist. As far as watches go however, it wasn’t half bad.'

Review: Oakley Split Thump Sunglasses - CNET

Oakley-Split-Thump-sunglasses.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Oakley Split Thump (1GB, polished black/gray polarized) sunglasses with digital player. ‘Oakley's Thump MP3-playing sunglasses aren't for everyone. If, for example, you like to sport gigantic lenses a la Jackie O, you probably won't be keen on the Split Thump's style. That said, the shape of these glasses is rather conventionally sporty, so they should suit most faces just fine. Plus, you get to choose from a variety of colors: polished black with warm gray lenses (all capacities), white with black iridium lenses, crystal black with warm gray lenses, and brown smoke with bronze lenses.

BaByliss-I-Trim-Clipper.jpg

Pocket Lint have published a review of the BaByliss I Trim Clipper which is a mains operated shaver which is rechargeable for cordless use and features a LCD display with length indicator and remaining charge. 'The idea of the I-trim is that you can control your stubble and therefore mean that you don't go from clean shaven to beardy weirdy in the course of a couple of days. Review: Philips Sonicare FlexCare Electric Toothbrush – Pocket Lint

Philips-Sonicare-FlexCare.jpg

Pocket Lint have published a review fot the Philips Sonicare FlexCare electric toothbrush. ‘According to Philips, the FlexCare is clinically proven to remove significantly more plaque than any other premium power toothbrush and the company also claim that the FlexCare will deliver naturally whiter teeth and improved gum health after only two weeks use. A bold claim, however, I am smiling while I write this, we would have to agree, our teeth, although only marginally do seem to look whiter. With personalised care settings including three brushing modes and two routines, you can choose a brushing experience to suit you, whether it’s a quick brush before you head out or a more thorough clean the morning after, but either way what we did notice was the vibration of the brush is very powerful.’

Review: Burton Lil Buddy Speaker Bag - CNET

Burton-Lil-Buddy.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Burton Lil Buddy speaker bag which comes with a detachable speaker system. ‘While the Lil Buddy has an inherent gimmick factor, Burton still goes the extra mile by giving it a sturdy construction and details such as a bottle-opener zipper pull, all-metal hardware, and a padded shoulder strap. The speaker system is tucked discreetly inside the bag's front pouch and uses a universally compatible stereo minijack cable connection. For those rare moments when you don't require a soundtrack for your liquid-fueled festivities, the speaker system can be detached from the bag by pulling it from its Velcro base.’

Review: Sound ID SM100 EarModule - Laptop Mag

Sound-ID-SM100-EarModule.jpg

A review of the Sound ID SM100 Bluetooth headset has been posted over at Laptop Magazine. 'The SM100 comes with three rubber ear tips and small earloops that help stabilize the headset in your ear. The combination makes for a good fit and stays put without the use of an uncomfortable plastic hook. As with in-ear stereo ear buds, you'll need to clean the SM100's tip periodically, but that's the only downside; you can wear this headset all day without discomfort. The unit also has dedicated buttons for Volume Up, Volume Down, Call Answer/End and a separate button for adjusting the sound modes. The SM100's NoiseNavigation and PersonalSound circuitry make the other party's voice in your ear clearer and louder without increasing background noise.'

Samsonite Ultima Tote Review at PC Mag

Samsonite-Ultima-Tote.jpg

A review of the Samsonite Ultima Tote has been posted over at PC Magazine. 'At 1.8 pounds, the Ultima Tote is lightweight, but quite roomy inside. Carrying it back and forth between work and home, I had plenty of room for all my necessi-ties—wallet, tech toys, books, sweater—not to mention my 12.1-inch widescreen Dell Inspiron 700m laptop. What I love about this bag is that its many pockets—for a cell phone, music player, and other gadgets, as well as pens, business cards, and other small, easy-to-lose objects—really keeps me organized. I also like the large zippered inner pocket for easy access to your keys, work ID, gum, or other important items. Finally, there are two narrow pockets on either side of the bag's outer shell, good for stuffing in a small last-minute item, but I would prefer a larger pocket for stowing file folders or a newspaper. Your laptop sits in the padded middle compartment, which can accommodate most 15-inch laptops. The padding is adequate for everyday use, but I wouldn't recommend being too rough with it.'

Sarah Meyer writing over at TabletPCReview has posted a review of the Tom Bihn Zephyr Briefcase. 'The outside of the bag is black and steel and has two small YKK Uretek splash-proof zippered pockets. They would be useful for small items like a cell phone, keys, chap stick, flash drive, checkbook, etc. The main buckle opens to a zippered pocket and an open pouch. The zippered pocket is large enough for a novel, power cords, or an extra battery. The pouch is bigger and has compartments that could hold office supplies like pens, notepads, calculators, etc. There is also a strap that you can attach a Tom Bihn organizer pouch or a key ring.'

Review - CamelBak Hydration Backpack - Web Bike World

CamelBak-Hydration-Backpack.bmp

Web Bike World have published a review of the CamelBak Classic Hydration Backpack. 'I chose to go with the CamelBak "Classic", a 2.1 liter (70 ounce) backpack unit designed for bicyclists. In addition to its liquid holding capabilities, it features an external zip pocket for keys or other small items and a wraparound bungee cord system to hold a shirt or sweater on the back. It also has a low profile; mesh shoulder straps and even a few bits of reflective tape. I didn't have experience with a CamelBak and I didn't have my riding jacket with me that day, so I had to imagine how it might work while wearing protective gear and a full-face helmet. While trying various CamelBak units on for size I noticed that some of them had shoulder straps that would probably be much too short to fit around a riding jacket. But the “Classic” version seemed to have straps that would be long enough to fit.'

'After spending lots of time with the larger 1/8 scale nitro powered cars and trucks opening a box and taking out a 1/36 scale truck is a change of pace. The Team Losi Micro-T is about the same size as the larger scale Hot Wheels cars that my son collects. While it is small don’t let that fool you into thinking that the Team Losi Micro-T is a fragile truck. This thing is built ruggedly and is hands down the fastest little RC truck I have ever seen. Tablet PC Review have published a review of the SwissGear Maxxum Computer Backpack which is a sporty backpack that can be used to carry your laptop, books and miscellaneous items. 'The Maxxum at first looks, well gigantor. It's huge, but it's also very busy, which might give one the sense that it doesn't have a whole lot of space to actually carry anything besides the notebook itself. Pocket Lint have posted a useful review of a pair of Zoggs Predator Wiro-Frame goggles. 'From the moment you strap the goggles on, you know you are dealing with a quality piece of equipment, and you should expect nothing less from a company like Zoggs, who have a history of exemplary swim products. One of the main features of the Predators are the curved lenses. This increases your field of vision, reducing the binocular effect that is common on other models. The view was also crystal clear – surprisingly so – and having swum in the same pool with at least three different pairs of goggles, this is probably the best so far.'

Bluetake BT400GL Bluetooth headset (pink) - CNET

Bluetake-BT400GL-Bluetooth-headset.jpg

The compact Bluetake BT400GL Bluetooth headset has been reviewed over at CNET. 'It seems that Bluetooth headsets are getting smaller and smaller. From the jewel-like Nokia BH-800 to the tiny Samsung WEP200, it appears that headset manufacturers are finally waking up to the idea that most people don't want a large headset on the sides of their face. The Bluetake BT400GL is a pretty little headset, and it comes in both pink and silver. However, despite its comfortable fit, the audio quality is underwhelming. So even though it retails for a very reasonable $65, you might be better off with one of the aforementioned headsets.

SoundID SoundFlavors Bluetooth headset - CNET

SoundID-SoundFlavors-Bluetooth-headset.jpg

The SoundID SoundFlavors Bluetooth headset utilizes advanced noise compression technology which reduces background noise while improving overall audio quality. 'The SoundID Personal Sound System SoundFlavors Bluetooth headset is one of the first (if not the only) Bluetooth headsets to incorporate medical technology in its design. Developed with the knowledge of how the human ear works, this headset's prime feature is its advanced noise compression technology that is smart enough to drown out surrounding noise and enhance the audio quality of conversation. Because of such advanced technology, the SoundID Personal Sound System retails for close to $650, which is really a lot of money for a Bluetooth headset. The sound quality does make it worth the price, but only if you're particularly hard of hearing and need that audio quality boost.'

Philips Wake-up Lamp: Light Simulates Sun [in your bedroom]

PhilipsWake-upLamp.jpg

If you experience a problem with the annoying ring of an alarm clock on mornings, you may be relieved to learn of a less disruptive alternative which takes the form of a lamp. Phillips (Royal Philips Electronics) has designed a wake-up lamp which they claim to be medically proven that "Emits light that gradually increases to the intensity you have selected, simulating the rising sun in your bedroom thus gently preparing your body to wake up". As you are supposed to be in bed with the lamp close by, the light should fall on your eyes and send a message to your brain to reduce the production of melatonin, the sleep-inducing hormone. The Wake-up light should therefore eliminate the uncomfortable experience of being jolted out of your slumber by an on-time alarm clock.

Nexus9mW.jpg

If you have never owned a laser pointer but are considering to purchse one of the devices, check out this hands-on review of the Nexus 95mW Green laser over at The Gadgeteer. 'I haven't had a lot of experience with lasers. Yes, I've played with the cheap $20 keychain variety, but that's about the extent of it. So when the folks at Wicked Lasers asked if I'd be interested in writing a review, I really didn't think it would be that big of a deal. I mean how hard would it be to write a review that said something like: "It's a laser. You press a button, a little dot of light beams out of one end. Boring! The End." Boy was I mistaken...'

It comes with three interchangeable frames; mahogany, brushed aluminum, and black. The compact display measures 4.2 by 6.4 by 1.1 inches (HWD) and weighs just under a pound. Controls to access the menu, navigate to the next or previous photo, and adjust brightness are located on the top of the frame. The Play button lets you select menu options and zoom in on photos. The frame supports multiple memory card formats, including SecureDigital, MultiMedia, xD, Memory Stick, and CompactFlash. I tested the frame with all of these formats and had no problems.'

Hands-Free Umbrella

Hands-Free%20Umbrella.jpg

The Hands-Fee Umbrella is a useful concept, however, I trust the umbrella is a quality item since, with or without the "holder", you would expect the brolly to do the job for which it has been purchased and not turn "inside out" at the first puff of wind. Since there is seldom rain without wind, the umbrella should probably be carried in the traditional manner until you are confident of having it strapped to your person and then with both hands free just in case there is an emergency.

The review of the Safe Lites BeaconWear vest over at Web Bike World should be of particular interest to bicycle and motorcycle riders since the issue of visibility could have a direct impact on the avoidance of collisions. 'The Safe Lites BeaconWear vest features a new type of patented electroluminescent lighted safety strip technology called "GlowSkin". These are sewn into the vest on top of the reflective stripes and they are covered with clear vinyl. The GlowSkin strips are not LED lights; GlowSkin is a very interesting product that is very lightweight and not much thicker than a piece of paper, yet the entire fabric glows when the vest is powered on.'

TomTom One Portable GPS Navigation Device Preview At Gizmodo

TomTom One.jpg

Thinking of purchasing a a personal GPS navigational gadget? If you have contemplated the idea but would have preferred to hear from a previous user check out this report of a satisfied user of the TomTom One. ‘Basically, it uses the same software as the TomTom 910. That means it's one of the most flexible GPS interfaces out there, and one of the only ones easy enough to use while you're weaving through rushhour (Which puts it on par with Garmin). One thing I missed was text to speech, for reading off street names right before you have to turn. And for units of this size, only the twice-as-pricey Garmin Nuvi series has that feature. The TomTom ONE does have a great accessory for the car, though, that Garmin can't match.’

Mustek MP100 Portable DVD Player Review At Tech Digest

Mustek MP100 portable DVD player.jpg

Tech digest reviews the sleek looking Mustek MP100 portable DVD player. 'As someone who is rarely without my laptop computer, I thought I'd be unlikely to invest in a standalone portable DVD player. However, I found myself really looking forward to reviewing this unit. The specs sound great on paper, and generally the unit doesn't disappoint. The whole unit is compact and feels pretty rugged, without being bulky. It's pretty light to carry around and looks like it will withstand the odd knock or bump. It comes complete with a black carrying case which, whilst not particularly well padded, keeps the player and its accessories neat when travelling, and there's also room in the bag for additional items (DVDs for example).'

Tom Bihn Empire Builder With Brain Cell & Soft Cell Review At Oh Gizmo

Tom Bihn Empire Builder.jpg

Andrew Liszewski of Oh Gizmo reviews a very neat looking travel bag designed for carrying around your laptop. 'In this review I’ll be taking a look at Tom Bihn’s Empire Builder coupled with a Brain Cell & Soft Cell. For those seeking a Reader’s Digest-esque condensed version of my review the Empire Builder is probably one of the best, if not the best solution for those seeking a more professional looking means to haul around their laptop and assorted gear. While courier bags have become increasingly popular they’re not always suitable for all work environments and more often than not do not protect a laptop as well as some people would like. Tom Bihn’s Empire Builder is an extremely well constructed bag and it’s obvious the company put a lot of thought into its design. When coupled with one of the company’s Brain Cells or Soft Cells I simply do not know of a better way to safely transport a laptop short of renting a tank or other heavily armored vehicle.'

Oral's USB Electric BlueToothbrush

Oral's USB Electric BlueToothbrush.jpg

I have to admit I am not that enthused with the idea of inserting an electric toothbrush in my mouth but there is definitely folks out there who find them rather handy in the bathroom. I have therefore read with some amusement the report of Tim over at 4bitterguys.com of his experience with Oral B's Bluetoothbrush and USB adaptor. 'I'm only slightly disappointed that the toothbrush doesn't actually transmit any completely useless data about itself - maybe how many oscillations the head is making would've fit the bill - but I'm guessing that without a toothbrush profile implemented by the Bluetooth stack, it would've been slightly difficult hacking it up. My disappointment is of course offset by how cool a toothbrush with a USB plug sticking out of the bottom of it looks.'

CNET: Garmin Quest 2 GPS Navigator Review

Garmin Quest 2 GPS Navigator.jpg

The Garmin Quest 2 GPS Navigator comes pre-loaded with City Select North America NT, which features full coverage of the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico—including nearly six million points of interest like gas stations, ATMs, hotels, restaurants, and attractions. ' A number of portable navigation systems, such as the Magellan RoadMate 800, claim they can be used in the car and on foot, but while they may be compact enough, their odd shapes don't make them ideal walking buddies. The Garmin Quest 2, however, is a different story. Its PDA-like form factor makes it a perfect travel companion, whether you're behind the wheel or hoofing it. Maps are now preloaded on the device, one of several nice upgrades over its predecessor. Of course, there are some trade-offs for its diminutive size. The display is rather small and isn't a touch screen. Voice-guided directions are only available when the unit is used with the included vehicle mount. And, it's a bit pricey at $750. Still, thanks to its portability and accurate directions, the Garmin Quest 2 is a solid choice if you're looking for a versatile GPS device.'

Popular Mechanics.com: Adidas And Polar Offer Runners A "Tech" Advantage

Adidas-Polar system.jpg

Popular Mechanics previews the Adidas-Polar tech gadgets aimed at improving the jogging experience which will be available in the latter quarter of the year. 'Until now. Shoemaker Adidas and sports electronics pioneer Polar have created the first system that turns two of the most basic pieces of running gear—shoes and a shirt—into sensors. The shoes record your speed, distance and cadence, and a heart rate monitor gathers data from sensors embedded in the shirt, no wires required. A wristwatch-based computer sucks in the data, and displays real-time info such as distance traveled to help you pace yourself. Useful, if, say, you’re training for a marathon. But what’s the point for the average jogger? In a word, cadence.'

And yet, it's a good idea: a razor designed for all points south of the neck, including—cue the adolescent giggles—there. Jabra Communications SP500 Bluetooth Portable Speakerphone

Jabra SP500 Bluetooth speakerphone.jpg

CNET reviews the Jabra SP500 Bluetooth speakerphone and while there are some 'cons' in the assessment, the device duly performs the task for which it is intended. 'Like the Bluant Supertooth II, the Jabra SP500 qualifies as a wireless speakerphone, in that it isn't a true hands-free device unless paired to a phone that has built-in voice-command operation. Though it's relatively bulky, the unit is modern and stylish without a single straight line to be found. The SP500 offers a good amount of talk and standby time, which means that forgetting to turn it off shouldn't be a problem. Is your raincoat waterproof? Strange question isnt it? Well the truth be told most of the ordinary throw-away rain covers are more of a nuisance anytime time the raindrops come pounding down. When they are not filtering the water to your clothing underneath they are ensuring you become soaked as a result of the rise in temperature due to the non-breatheable fabric from which they are constructed.TravelSmith seeks to addres these two concerns with the $170 Men's Packable Classic Raincoat. 'Made of suede-soft microfiber, and a high tech membrane that's totally waterproof yet breathable - like Gore-Tex® - but at a fraction of the cost. Sealed seams throughout ensure water-tightness. CNET Review Kodak EasyShare One Megapixel Digital Camera [WI - FI enabled]

This CNET review of the Kodak EasyShare One camera reveals some criticism of the camera's capability in shooting photos. 'Although it took nine months from announcement to shipment, the Kodak EasyShare One arrived with its promised three-inch touch-screen LCD and Wi-Fi transfer capabilities. With them, the camera opens up genuinely original possibilities for travelers, business people, and government agencies that need instant photo sharing. But all is not perfect in Kodak's wireless utopia. While the EasyShare One is great for sharing photos, it's not so great at shooting them. The user interface, optimized for maximum simplicity, can be slow and annoying for anyone unwilling to settle for complete automation.'

Simple 5 Megapixel Digital Camera: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T5

Trusted Reviews writer, Cliff Smith, takes a look at the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T5 and concludes with a favorable comment on this relatively easy to operate digital camera.'The DSC-T5 is the latest in Sony’s line of ultra-slim snapshot cameras, and has a broadly similar specification to the other cameras in the T series, such as the T7, T33, T3 and others, since all of them have a 5MP sensor and 3x optical zoom lens. It is certainly an attractively designed camera, and at just 20.3mm thick and 139g including battery and card it is one of the skinniest and lightest cameras on the market. It can slip into a shirt pocket with barely a bulge, making it ideal for social occasions. Priced at around £210 online, or £279.99 in the High Street, it is competing with the likes of the Pentax Optio S5n, the Canon IXUS 55 and the Olympus FE-5500.'
