Review: Penguin 4X Quad Charge Station for Wii - CNET

Penguin-4X-Quad-Charge-Station-for-Wii.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Penguin 4X Quad Charge Station for the Wii which recharges 4 Wii remotes simultaneously. 'The Quad Charge Station is a circular base that won't go sliding away thanks to its rubber feet. The four Wii remote docking slots are arranged in a cross-shaped pattern on the unit's topside, which is sloped upward. The bright blue LEDs under each docking slot aren't the tackiest thing we've ever come across, but in a dark room they may become distracting. Unfortunately, there's no way to turn these lights off once the charging base is plugged in, but the AC adapter cable is detachable from the base itself.

Nintendo Wii Fit Review - PC World

Nintendo-Wii-Fit.jpg

PC World have published a review of the Nintendo Wii Fit home workout program. ‘Wii Fit lets users choose from 48 activities spread across four main categories: yoga poses, strength training, aerobic exercise, and balance games. To perform such calisthenics, you stand--or in some cases lie--on the special wireless Wii Balance Board peripheral that comes with the game. The sturdy Balance Board, which resembles a double-width bathroom scale, supports weights of up to 330 pounds or so. Powered by four AA batteries, it's rated for around 60 hours of use. Four pressure sensors inside the board determine where your feet are, monitor your center of gravity, and check your weight. It will also function as an optional controller for upcoming Wii games such as Skate It (from Electronic Arts/Black Box) and All-Star Cheer Squad (from THQ).’

Nintendo Wii Reviewed

Nintendo-Wii-Reviewed.jpg

CNET have reviewed the "affodable" Nintendo Wii gaming console. 'Nintendo has ventured off the beaten path with its newest system, and the company knows it. While the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360 both emphasize their impressive graphical capabilities, Nintendo downplays the importance of graphics on its new console. While the Sony and Microsoft consoles keep the branding of their respective predecessors, the oddly named Wii is a semantic departure from Nintendo's more literally named 2001 console, the GameCube. And while the PS3 and the Xbox 360 both use conventional gamepads bristling with buttons, control sticks, and directional pads, the Wii uses a device that looks more like a TV remote than a gamepad to control its games.

Review: Hands on the Wii - CNET

Wii.jpg

Daniel Terdiman writing over at CNET provides some close-up details of his "turn" at the Nintendo Wii "next-gen" console. 'Thanks to Nintendo product testing supervisor Sean Egan, I've have about 90 minutes of solo time on the Wii as part of a road show Nintendo's putting on for the console in advance of its Nov. 19 release. My test has cemented the feeling I had at the E3 game show in May, where I got about five minutes of Wii play time, that for players like me who aren't hard-core gamers but enjoy good game play, Nintendo's next-generation console will be a lot more fun than Microsoft's Xbox 360 or Sony's PlayStation 3. Preview: Nintendo Wii At Trusted Reviews

Nintendo%20Wii.jpg

Riyad Emeran writing over at Trusted Reviews provides some insights into the much anticipated Nintendo Wii gaming console. ‘Nintendo has always promised that it would be making the Wii affordable, but last week’s unofficial announcement that the console would cost £149 turned out to be inaccurate, with Nintendo announcing a retail price of £179. This compares to pricing of €249 and $249 – once again proving that our friends over the pond get a slightly better deal than us Brits. That said, it’s still an affordable price point, especially when you consider what you’re getting in the box.

Wired News: Nintendo's hot new DS title - Electroplankton

Electroplankton.jpg

In this commentary by Clive Thompson of Wired News, it seems he is more than overjoyed with his "new toy" from Nintendo. 'As many people have noted, Electroplankton -- Nintendo's hot new DS title -- is not really a game. It doesn't have any goals; all you do is nudge virtual plankton around onscreen until they produce pleasing tunes. Technically, Electroplankton is a toy -- yet it's modeled after the music-editing software professional sound engineers use to produce songs. And the results, in the right hands, can be remarkably similar.'
