Bladerunner II RC Helicopter Review - The Gadgeteer

Bladerunner-II-RC-Helicopter.jpg

The Gadgeteer have published a review of the BladeRunner II RC helicopter features a proprietary co-axial rotor design and is powered by a state-of-the-art on board rechargeable battery pack that gives you flight times of 15 minutes. 'The Bladerunner is a medium sized helicopter. Not tiny like the PicooZ that I reviewed last year. The body of the Bladerunner is constructed of painted styrofoam. This makes the copter very light weight. It's important to note that the Bladerunner is an indoors ONLY RC toy. It's too light to fly outdoors, even if it isn't windy. The co-axial rotor design of this copter is the secret to its stability. If you've ever tried to fly an RC helicopter, you'll probably agree that it's very hard to control it. Not so with the Bladerunner.'

Samsung BD-P1200 Blu-Ray Player Review - ThinkComputers

Samsung-BD-P1200-Blu-Ray-Player.jpg

A review of the Samsung BD-P1200 Blu-Ray Player has been posted over at Think Computers. 'As you would probably expect, setting up the Samsung BD-P1200 Blu-ray player is much the same as getting a regular DVD player connected to your television and home theater system. Around the back of the player, you'll discover the usual smattering of ports, including everyone's favorite HDMI. You could of course dial it down to component or composite, but the sole reason why you would want to get this player in the first place is to enjoy native HD content. So, you should either go with HDMI or DVI for video. The Blu-ray player booted up without a hitch and I liked the hinged door that "hides" the disc tray. The gentle blue lighting is also a very attractive touch. I should also note that this device will also accept CDs and DVDs, as well as BD and BD-R discs.'

Review: Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin iPod Speaker - CNET

Bowers-Wilkins-Zeppelin-iPod-speaker.jpg

CNET have published a review of the pricey Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin iPod speaker dock. ‘Unpacking the Zeppelin, we couldn't help but be impressed with its build quality: the speaker's entire backside is constructed out of mirror-polished stainless steel, the front black cloth covering is tastefully demure. A LED indicator lights up from behind the grille to keep you informed of the Zeppelin's operational status: it glows red in standby mode, yellow as the unit powers up from standby; green when the Aux input is selected; white as the Zeppelin's volume approaches its maximum setting. The speaker's power and volume controls are embedded in the stainless trim piece just above the iPod. Suffice it to say, the overall package is just plain gorgeous--another fruitful pairing up of B&W and London's Native Design Ltd.’

Review: Pure Digital Evoke 1S DAB Digital Radio - Register Hardware

Evoke-1S.jpg

A review of the EVOKE-1S DAB compact digital radio has been posted over at the Register Hardware. 'For a sub-£100 product, the machine is built well. Tiny things that matter, like the solidness of the little rubber feet on the bottom of the radio, have all benefited from close attention. We've seen other radios for the same price where the feet have fallen off after a short while as a result of the cheap adhesive used. Turn the Evoke 1S on and it leaps straight into its stride, before you can say, "I hate Chris Moyles", the time is stored and the set begins its search for stations. And it does it well too. This little radio picked up as many stations as a much higher-end separates deck that we'd set up in the same location. The decent-sized aerial helps here. A total of 30 stations can be stored, some DAB, others FM.'

Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite Review - Computeractive

Microsoft-Xbox-360-Elite.jpg

Computeractive have published a review of the Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite games console. 'The big difference between Microsoft's Xbox 360 Elite and the previous incarnation of the Xbox 360, which is still on sale, at a lower price, is the colour - it's gone from pristine white to dark black. Otherwise the case looks the same, but the insides have changed a bit, too: the Elite comes with a 120GB hard disk, compared with the 20GB model in the original box (the disk stores downloaded games and demos, saved games, music and movies). It also sports an HDMI port, which allows the console to be directly connected to a high-definition television (if it has the same socket) for the best quality picture.'

Mondo Mint Digital Music Station Review - PC Mag

Mondo-Mint-Digital-Music-Station.jpg

PC Magazine have published a review of the Mondo Mint Digital Music Station audio system. 'Here's how the system works: Two traditional stereo shelf speakers connect to an amplifier/iPod dock, which communicates with a second wireless iPod dock that uses 2.4-GHz range RF and proprietary technology to deliver music to the speakers within a range of 100 feet. Since the wireless dock can't connect to the speakers independently, and since the remote doesn't navigate the content of your iPod (it handles only power, source, and volume controls), the usefulness of the Mint's wireless transmission is questionable. The wireless dock could be on your desk and the speakers on nearby shelves, but you'd still need to use your iPod to move through tracks, and the wireless listening experience is limited to the distance at which the speakers can be heard, regardless of the 100-foot range.'

Review: Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP-HC 24-inch) Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor - CNET

Dell-UltraSharp-2407WFP-HC.jpg

A review of the Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP-HC (24-inch) Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor has been posted over at CNET. 'The basic frame and stand of the UltraSharp remains the same as it has for roughly the past two years. It's a clean-enough design that doesn't quite have the aesthetic polish of an Apple display, but it's suitable for display in any environment. The screen is easy to attach and remove, and the stand gives you just as much adjustability as NEC's recent 24-incher (and much more than any Apple monitor), including tilt, pivot, up-and-down, and 90 degrees of rotation to move into portrait mode. NEC's display earned a few design points for its easy-to-navigate onscreen menu, which was made possible by a small joystick next to the power button. Dell's new UltraSharp receives no such kudos. All of the options you'd expect to find are present, including three presets for multimedia, games, and desktop, but making a selection and navigating in general is unintuitive. Dell also offers no software for integrating the monitor controls with your Windows display settings, a feature of the NEC that we appreciated.'

BaByliss I-trim stubble Trimmer Review - Pocket Lint

BaByliss-I-Trim-Clipper.jpg

Pocket Lint have published a review of the BaByliss I Trim Clipper which is a mains operated shaver which is rechargeable for cordless use and features a LCD display with length indicator and remaining charge. 'The idea of the I-trim is that you can control your stubble and therefore mean that you don't go from clean shaven to beardy weirdy in the course of a couple of days. The handheld battery powered (although you can connect it to power) trimmer comes with an on off switch and two height adjusting buttons. There is also an LCD screen so you can see the height you've adjusted the clippers to.'

Conical Ballnose Engraving Tools for Standard and Reverse 3D Engraving Applications Are Now Available

Conical-Ballnose-Engraving-Tool.jpg

Press Release

Source 2L inc. - Hudson, Massachusetts - 2L inc. announced today that it is accepting orders for its' high performance, Conical Ballnose Engraving Tools.

The Conical Ballnose Engraving Tool offers dual functionality. It may be used for standard engraving projects and for 3D profiling and surface machining.

"Testing has demonstrated that the 2L Conical Ballnose Engraving Tool can withstand higher cutting forces than standard Ballnose Endmills or tapered Ballnose Endmills," noted the company spokesman. "For example, a 0.010" Radius Conical Ballnose Engraving Tool was able to withstand plunging 0.010" deep at 55,000 RPM and 300 IPM in aluminum and make at least 200 passes over the surface while a similar diameter standard tapered Ballnose Endmills broke almost immediately."

"This added strength makes the tool ideal for today's demanding 3D profile work in difficult to machine materials," added the spokesman. "Machining numerous passes at small depths of cut and high speeds yields products with fine surface finishes that would be unobtainable using standard tools."

Conical Ballnose Engraving Tools are similar in style to the well known and used Standard Conical Engraving Tool, but with a radius tip which produces a cut with a rounded bottom.

The tools are available in shank diameters of 1/8", 11/64", 3/16" and 1/4" with lengths varying from 2" - 6.5", Tip Radius of .005", .010" & .020" and included angles of 30 and 60 degrees.

The Conical Ballnose Engraving Tool can be used with the patented 2L Spring Loaded Engraving Toolholder, CNC milling machines, Hand Held Engraving Machines, and Industrial Marking Equipment.

The 2L Engraving and Cutting Tool product line continues to grow, offering a wide variety of high quality, precision made solid carbide engraving, cutting, milling, and burnishing tools.

Magellan-CrossoverGPS.jpg

A review of the Magellan CrossoverGPS device has been posted over at PC Authority. 'GPS specialist, Magellan, enters the consumer driver space with its CrossoverGPS, which is unique in that it caters for road, hiking/off-road and nautical navigation.A transflective screen makes it easy to view it outdoors and battery life is quoted at a whopping 8hrs (more than double that of most units). In fact, after three hours hiking with the backlight turned down, the battery dropped less than 20%. It also comes with a ruggedised sleeve to protect from drops and the map data comes from Navteq.'

Sling Media Slingbox Pro Reviewed - Personal Computer World

Sling-Media-Slingbox-Pro.jpg

Personal Computer World have published a review of the Slingbox Pro TV Streaming device. 'You simply hook it up to your video source, download the software on a PC and watch TV as if you were at home. The Pro version comes with up to four inputs (including HD) and faster streaming. The HD input isn’t HDMI, but rather a proprietary HD Connect socket - an adapter is included to connect Component HD sources. You can’t stream in HD (the Slingbox Pro scales it down to 640x480), but it looks better than standard Freeview. While the original (renamed Slingbox Classic) could only muster 2.5Mbits/sec streams, the new Slingbox Pro can reach 8Mbits/sec. Full-screen video therefore looks great over a Lan, but with most broadband upstreams under 500Kbits/sec, this increase doesn’t help when viewing over the internet.'

HP Photosmart A626 Compact Photo Printer Review - PC Mag

HP-Photosmart-A626.jpg

PC Magazine have published a review of the HP Photosmart A626 Compact Photo Printer which facilitates photo printing without a PC. 'The A626 actually offers the same touch-screen features as the HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Center, a larger printer with a much larger touch screen. But unlike the A826, which is too large to carry with you (at least on a regular basis), the A626 is fully portable. It's 5.2 by 9.9 by 4.6 inches (HWD), weighs only 3.2 pounds, and comes with a built-in handle. HP even offers an optional battery ($49.99 direct) so you can print photos when away from a power outlet. HP says the battery weighs roughly 8 ounces and can print 75 4-by-6 photos on a full charge. As with most small-format photo printers, setting up the A626 is almost trivial. Simply plug in the power cord, install the one ink cartridge, load paper, and print. If you want to connect to a computer, you can also run the automated installation program and plug in a USB cable.'

Review: Sony Bravia KLV-46X350A LCD TV - CNET Asia

Sony-Bravia-0KLV-46X350A.jpg

A review of the Sony Bravia KLV-46X350A (46-inch LCD) TV has been posted over at CNET Asia. 'The KLV-46X350A is a near-clone of the original X series. You will still get a floating glass design synonymous with the flagship Bravia as well as other fine touches. For example, there is the illuminated Sony logo, shiny aluminum rims and interchangeable bezel. The latter now comes in six contrasting hues to better match your home deco. On top of the usual selection of black, blue, red, white and silver, you will also have a choice of gold. Other cosmetic variations are a stain-resistant brushed metal finish and a slightly wider form factor primarily due to a pair of side speakers.

The onboard dials and sockets are right where they ought to be, conveniently located on the left for side A/V inputs and corresponding right for TV controls. The selection for the former includes a handy HDMI for the latest HD camcorders and USB for JPEG playback. Given a choice, we would like to have inbuilt provision for swivel options, though there is little to nitpick when it comes to the build of the sturdy L-shaped stand. For the minimalists, a simple hook and a sizeable clip are available on the rear to route and tidy up the usual bundle of snaking cords.'

Shure SE110 Noise Isolating Earphones Review - Trusted Reviews

Shure-SE110-Noise-Isolating-Earphones.jpg

Trusted Reviews have published a review of the Shure SE110 Noise Isolating Earphones. 'The limitations of the SE110s are highlighted when listening to a track like What Goes Around Comes Around by Justin Timberlake. The combination of heavy beats and vocal harmonies requires earphones to excel across the whole audio range, but the SE110s couldn't quite cope. The bass line sounds slightly muffled, rather than strong and defined, although the vocals and harmonies are well resolved, if slightly harsh. Plugging in a set of Shure SE310s or even Denon's AH-C700s, produces a far more cohesive and pleasing sound - although both those sets cost well over twice as much as the SE110s.'

The new HT2210ISOCTR features convenient detachable power cords with right-angle plugs and 24k gold plug contacts in place of the integrated cord and plug of earlier models. Two power cords (18-inch and 10-foot) with NEMA 5-15P plugs are supplied with the unit.

"Detachable power cords in two lengths add to this power center's versatility," said Tripp Lite Senior Product Manager Karenann Brow. "The short 18-inch cord reduces cable clutter when the TV is installed in close proximity to an AC outlet. The long 10-foot cord gives users more flexibility to install the TV at a location where the outlet is not easily accessible. For additional flexibility, an included remote AC/DC control jack permits remote on/off control from an external component."

The new HT2210ISOCTR Audio/Video Power Center retains all the features that made it a winner when first introduced. Premium Isobar technology with 5100 joules of surge protection stops damaging power surges and filters disruptive EMI/RFI line noise. Other features include two AC outlets, three diagnostic LEDs, circuit breaker, fail-safe thermal fusing, audible alarm, low-profile metal housing and included mounting brackets. Review: Alpine IVA-W205 In-Dash DVD/CD Receiver - CNET

Alpine-IVA-W205.jpg

A review of the Alpine IVA-W205 In-dash DVD/CD receiver has been posted over at CNET. 'In its physical appearance, the IVA-W205 uses a similar design to that of its predecessor in the Alpine lineup, the IVA-W200. A number of hard buttons across the bottom of the bezel can be used to switch between sources and different screens, as well as for controlling volume and power. Most other controls are available on the system's 6.5-inch LCD touch screen, which, like that of the IVA-W200, features Alpine's "Pulsetouch" tactile feedback--a physical vibration designed to let users know when they have made a selection. In general, we like the size of the touch screen and the large, well-labeled soft buttons, which make it easy to make selections while driving along or when stopped in traffic. The Pulsetouch feature can take a while to get used to: We found that it works fine if you push a button quickly, but, if you hold it down, the screen throbs with a disconcerting machine-gun-like noise.'

New LED Chevron Arrow Mat Provides Three Levels of Safety

Flashing-LED-Chevron-Arrow-Mat.jpg

Press Release

LEDtronics® announces the release of its new Flashing LED Chevron Arrow Mat. This convenient, portable, lightweight LED Arrow Mat has three different safety Light Modes of operation: 1. Sequential LED Arrow Flash Mode; 2. All LED Arrows Flashing in Unison Mode; and 3. All LED Arrows Always On Mode. Since LEDs are solid-state devices that offer high shock and vibration resistance the LED mat is the ideal safety item for all motorists, police, truck drivers, utility workers, and emergency personnel.

The energy-efficient Flashing LED Chevron Arrow Mat operates with three replaceable AA-cell batteries for nearly 72 hours in the arrows-sequentially-flashing mode, 48 hours with all arrows flashing in unison, and up to 6 hours in the arrows-always-on mode (batteries are not included). LED Arrow Mat has eight magnetic pads that allow attachment to ferric-metallic surfaces, and eight half-inch eyelets for fasteners making it a reliable, easily installed safety light source that provides; a direction to an event location, a warning sign for delivery-service loading/unloading, a traffic director for road detours, and a roadside-emergency traffic diverter.

It is 44.9 inches long and 19.7 inches high. Made of a foldable, soft red nylon material, the LED Arrow Mat comes with a handy 23.5-inch by 13.2-inch storage bag. On the mat are four reflective chevron arrows that have nine Super Red LEDs per arrow for a total of 36 LEDs. Each LED puts out a total intensity of 4000-to-5000 mcd.

With an average LED lifespan of up to 100,000-plus hours (11 years), LEDs operate reliably year after year. Solid-state design renders LEDs impervious to electrical and mechanical shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental fluctuation. LED lamps use only 10% - 20% of the energy consumed by equivalent incandescent lamps that — combined with their maintenance-free operation — lead to substantial cost savings.

Apple TV Review - Register Hardware

Apple-TV-160GB.jpg

The Register Hardware have published a review of the 160GB Apple TV media extender which allows you to view Web content on your TV screen. 'The first thing that strikes you is the tiny size of the unit. It measures 19.6 x 19.6cm and is only 2.8cm tall, which is miniscule compared to the hefty boxes supplied by the networking boys, all of which are the size of a domestic DVD player. This is especially impressive as the Apple TV contains plenty of hardware, including the power transformer. Inside, the Apple TV uses a 1GHz Intel Pentium M processor, an Nvidia G72M graphics chip with 64MB of video memory, a 2.5in laptop hard drive, 802.11n wireless kit and the aforementioned power supply.'

Review: Sling Media Slingbox Solo - CNET

Sling-Media-Slingbox-Solo.jpg

A review of the Sling Media Slingbox SOLO which is a gadget that allows you to watch and control your favorite TV source from anywhere in the world on your laptop or mobile phone has been posted over at CNET. 'The Slingbox Solo is about the size of three DVD cases stacked together, and it retains the trapezoidal shape of all previous Slingbox models. But the Solo's got a decidedly more polished look and feel--it's jet black (albeit with Sling's trademark red accents on the side), and the metal grille along the top and side gives it more of a classic high-end audio vibe. Except for the three red indicator lights on the front face, all the action is around back. There's no power switch either--once plugged in, the Slingbox is designed to be always on, just like a cable modem or router. The Solo's rear panel boasts composite, S-Video, and component video inputs and outputs, so it can sit between your cable or satellite box (or DVR) and your TV. That's a step up from last year's Slingbox AV, which lacked pass-through connectors.'

In practice and its very easy to setup and use for both the MP3 player function and the DAB radio and merely a case of tuning in your FM radio in the kitchen or the car. Laptop Magazine have published a review of the Mavizen MyBlu which is an iPod accessory that provides a remote control for your iPod and can also be used as a Bluetooth headset when it is paired with a Bluetooth-enabled phone 'The size of a second-generation iPod shuffle, the MyBlu measures a compact 1.5 x 1.0 x 0.5 inches and weighs less than an ounce. It features a built-in microphone and a 3.5mm jack for plugging in your own earphones. The controls mimic that of the iPod shuffle: The Play/Pause functions lie in the center with the volume and track shuttle keys arranged around it in a circle. Below the circular toggle is a round Bluetooth pairing button. We were happy to see a Hold button and an MP3/FM toggle. We plugged our earphones into the MyBlu and then plugged the MyBlu into our iPod. (The device works with the 4G iPod, 5G iPod, as well as the iPod mini and 1G and 2G nano).'
