Worldspace Digital Satellite Radio: AMI WS201New Portable Receiver

worldspace.jpg

If you share a similar passion like me for the good old days of short wave broadcasting, you may well be aware of the new phenomenon of digital broadcasts which have largely replaced the old short wave signals across several areas of the Globe. One company which has been a pioneer in this activity is WorldSpace Inc. 'Worldspace digital satellite system broadcasts are oriented towards Africa, middle east South & Central America and Western Europe. Broadcasts are transmitted by 3 geostaionary satellites the (Afristar, AisaStar, AmeriStar) which orbit the earth directly over the equator above the regions in question. Worldspace broadcasts include news sports and music, and these programmes are broadcast in multi language format.' There are not that many receivers for this brand of radio but the AMI WS201 with a price tag of around £125 is the average price you could expect to shell out for a decent set.
